07/23/2019

Summer, barbecues, outings with friends, evenings on the banks of the Garonne… But what could be the common denominator of all this? Well, the wine, of course! Nothing is more enjoyable than a glass of wine to make the most of everything this beautiful summer season has to offer.

And to find all the good oenological plans for the summer, L.O Wine accompanies all those who want to spend a very lively summer, always around wine, for sure.

In August, there will be something for everyone!

More like a discovery summer?

On Thursdays 1st and 15th August 2019, the Château de Saurs opens its doors to the general public and allows everyone to visit its lands freely and without charge and offers a tasting of its wines, all labelled AB.

Beginners in oenology, wine lovers as well as viticulture and viniculture experienced people, on Tuesdays, August 6, 13 and 20 2019, everyone can come and taste a glass of wine at Domaine de Magnaut, under the precious comments of the winemaker Jean-Maire. And this for only 4€.

More like a challenge summer?

It’s time for all Sherlock Holmes to take out their magnifying glasses and hats! The Château de Portets is organising a survey on Thursday 1st August within its estate.

The mission of all inspectors: to solve the mystery, taste wine and visit the property!

In August, let’s discover the Pays de la Loire, this most surprising oenological land. And what better idea than to combine vines and wine with a sporting activity such as hiking?

On August 31 and September 1, for the 16th edition of this wine tourism event, the Val de Loire region will offer 17 walks in the heart of the vineyards to everyone, enriched by tasting courses given by wine professionals.

More like an enlivened summer?

At the beginning of August, the cities of Gaillac and Bergerac offer all wine lovers the opportunity to celebrate this passion around a (free) celebration dedicated to wine tasting and music.

Rendez-vous from 2 to 4 August at Parc Foucaud in Gaillac for the 41st edition of the Gaillac Wine Festival and on the 3rd of August at the Port of Bergerac to participate to the event Les Vins de Bergerac en Fête.

This is large-scale wine tourism!

Small flea jump in the Hérault. To continue in quality wine tourism, on August 3rd, the city of Sauteyrargues invites everyone to transplant into the world of wine for a concert by the singer Carmin.

Around oenology workshops, such as wine tastings, accompanied by hot and cold tapas, charcuterie and cheeses, with friends, family and lovers, everyone can enjoy a very lively and oenologically delicious evening!

Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Semillon and Sauvignon are all among the most popular grape varieties, at least in the Bordeaux region. So, from August 13 to 16, the Hautes-Pyrénées department decided to organize an oenological festival to take wine lovers on a journey of discovery of the local red grape variety Madiran. This Madiran Festival will be held in the city of Madiran, itself.

More of a gourmet summer?

The summer body? It’s too late to think about it! In return, in the Hérault region, the Domaine de Magnaut opens its doors (again) to offer everyone a tasting in harmony with food and wine.

3 wines from the Domaine, each accompanied by 2 bites prepared and commented by the chef of a renowned restaurant in the region.

These delicious wine tastings will take place on Thursdays, August 8 and 22.

Back in Bordeaux. In summer, the simplest pleasures are the best. This is why, on August 10 and 11, the city of Pauillac invites the most discerning to make diverse and varied culinary discoveries thanks to the Food Truck Festival.

More than fifteen vans will be present to introduce young and old not only to a new cuisine but also to the world of wine.

Yes, on the programme, wine tasting workshops, oenological initiations but also musical activities with DJs and concerts! Wine, food and music are the perfect equation to enjoy the mild summer evenings.

At the same time, a very pleasant winegrower’s evening will take place. About ten winegrowers will come to meet wine lovers to present their wines, each commented by an oenologist. On the terrace of the former Hérault monastery, the Prieuré Saint-Michel de Grandmont, everyone can enjoy a wine tasting, just before enjoying a meal worthy of the greatest and a festive musical evening.

So who’s ready to embark on an amazing taste and wine journey?
