Wine Reveals the Cocktail : Discover the Art of Mixology and Craft Your Own Wine-Based Creations

Do you like wine… but cocktails too?

This workshop offers a rare and surprising experience, at the crossroads of tasting and mixology. Here, wine is not limited to a traditional tasting: it becomes a living ingredient, a medium for creative and sensory exploration. Led by Laetitia Ouspointour, an oenologist trained alongside professional mixologists, the workshop is based on a hands-on, experimental approach. You learn by doing: touching, smelling, tasting, and combining. After training with Clement Sargeni, Laetitia has mastered all the techniques needed to transform wine into a cocktail base while preserving its unique aromas and characteristics.

Wine tasting : mastering flavors to craft your cocktails

The workshop begins with a guided and structured tasting of the selected wines. Participants are led step by step to learn how to “read” a wine, understand its structure, balance, and aromatic profile.
This phase is essential. It provides a solid foundation, helps put sensations into words, and develops a true understanding of the wines being used. You learn to identify aromatic notes, balances, and the unique characteristics of each wine knowledge that is crucial for moving on to the creative phase and crafting harmonious, personalized cocktail recipes.

A practical, sensory, and creative workshop

After the tasting, it’s time for sensory experimentation. Participants handle aromatic herbs, berries, spices, dried fruit peels, and other natural elements.

This hands-on exploration helps participants understand how aromas interact with the wine, and how certain flavors can reveal new dimensions or alter its perception. By experimenting with different combinations, they discover the wine through action through touch, smell, and taste.

It’s a concrete and immersive approach that allows knowledge to take root in a way that goes beyond mere theoretical explanation.

Next, the mixology phase allows the wine’s flavors to emerge with even greater intensity. Thanks to the added ingredients and techniques used, certain aromatic notes of the wine are revealed more prominently, sometimes in unexpected ways.
>The cocktail thus becomes a magnifier: it highlights the wine’s complexity, accentuates specific sensations, and offers a fresh perspective on its aromas. The wine never gets lost behind the cocktail, instead, it expresses itself fully and in a new way.

The wine reveals the cocktail

In this approach, wine is the starting point of creation. It is not just another ingredient: it shapes the cocktail and defines its identity. Its aromas, freshness, texture, and balance guide every decision that follows.
By understanding the wine beforehand—its structure, aromatic notes, and personality, participants learn to build a cocktail that emerges from the wine itself. The added ingredients (herbs, berries, spices, dried fruit peels, etc.) do not mask the wine but complement and extend its flavors.
The cocktail is revealed through the wine: the wine inspires the recipe, guides the combinations, and gives coherence to the whole creation.
