You’d love to organise a private wine tasting in Bordeaux – but you’re not quite sure how it works, what it involves, or whether it’s really for you. Here’s everything you need to know, from the first contact to the end of the session.
What is a private wine tasting?
A private tasting is a session organised exclusively for you and your group, no strangers, no public tasting room, and no standard script. I select the wines based on your profile, tailor the session to what you want to experience, and host it myself.
The difference compared with a classic château visit? Everything. The pace, the level, the wines selected, the stories shared, the questions asked – everything is adapted to the people in the room. That’s what a private tasting is all about.
How does it work in practice?
- First contact. You write to me or give me a call. We spend a few minutes talking about the occasion, the group, your level of wine knowledge, and what you’d like to experience. No complicated forms. Just a conversation.
- The proposal. I send you a tailored proposal covering the format, duration, venue, wines I’m considering, and price. Usually within a few days.
- The preparation. I select the wines, prepare the session, and arrive with everything we need. There’s nothing for you to organise in terms of logistics – except perhaps some glasses if the session is at your place, and even then, I can bring them.
- The session. We taste, talk and learn – without any pressure. There are no right or wrong answers in wine tasting, only different palates and preferences to explore. Sessions last from 90 minutes to half a day, depending on the format.
What private tasting formats are available?
The CréaWine® blending workshop. We create our own wine by blending grape varieties. Everyone leaves with their own personalised bottle. Our most memorable format – awarded at the Concours Lépine.
Discovering the wines of Bordeaux. A journey through the great Bordeaux appellations, glass by glass: Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Margaux and Pessac-Léognan. Ideal for beginners and mixed-level groups.
Painting with wine. We paint with red wine on a personalised canvas – a sketch or mandala that I can adapt to the occasion: the event venue, the estate or the company’s offices. Each participant leaves with their own piece, coloured by the wine’s natural hues. A creative, unexpected way to experience wine differently.
Caviar, Grands Crus Classés & Champagne. The premium gastronomic experience: three caviars, including Aquitaine IGP caviar, paired with Bordeaux Grands Crus Classés and Champagne. A unique way to experience the flavours of the region as a whole.
Les Terroirs de ma Vie. The most personalised format: I build the entire tasting around the story of the person being celebrated – their travels, their origins and the places that have shaped them. Every glass tells a chapter.
Wine reveals the cocktail. What if wine were just another ingredient? We create cocktails using wine as the base – fresh, vibrant and surprising. No jargon, no formal tasting. A gateway into the world of wine for those who don’t yet see themselves as wine drinkers.
Where can the tasting take place?
One of the great advantages of L.O Wine: I come to you.
At your home. Your apartment, your house or your holiday rental – the most relaxed format.
At Château Vieux Mougnac. Our family estate among the vines, for an experience in the very setting where the wine is made.
On the Bassin d’Arcachon or at Cap Ferret. White wine and oysters by the water, one of my favourite combinations.
At a private venue in Bordeaux. I can recommend spaces depending on the size of your group and the atmosphere you’re looking for.
How many people?
Private tastings are available for groups of 2 to around 50 people, depending on the format. Whether it’s an intimate dinner for two with a curated wine selection or a larger group experience, I adapt each tasting to make sure everyone is genuinely involved.
How much does it cost?
Prices vary depending on the format, duration, wines selected and number of participants. The simplest option is to contact me directly with a little context, I’ll send you a personalised proposal.
