In the mood for a gourmet, chocolate-filled escape? L.O Wine shares its favorite discoveries with you, and today we invite you to 19 rue Bouffard in Bordeaux, to Lalère Chocolaterie, where you’ll meet Xavier, a professional chocolatier.
The story behind Lalère Chocolaterie.

Passionate about chocolate and food in general, this native of Béarn naturally chose to pursue his studies at a specialized school. Xavier Lalère first honed his skills alongside the renowned Master Chocolatier and Confectioner, Mr. Verdier. After this enriching experience, he decided to settle in Bordeaux, where he joined the prestigious Cadiot-Badie house as Head Chocolatier.
In 2018, the artisan’s career took a decisive turn when he opened his first boutique in the heart of Bordeaux. Very quickly, a loyal neighborhood clientele formed, and word of mouth did the rest. The shop successfully weathered the challenging period of the pandemic and even opened a second boutique in Bordeaux in 2021.
A diverse and original Lalère product range
Some of Lalère’s creations are at the very heart of the brand’s distinctive identity.

Among them are the chocolaterie’s famous chocolate rochers. These feature a Piedmont hazelnut praline and Valencia almond praline, with a whole hazelnut at the center, all hand-coated in milk or dark chocolate with pieces of toasted almonds.
The traditional chocolate-covered marshmallow bear has also played a key role in the brand’s success. Made from soft, melt-in-the-mouth marshmallow infused with vanilla extract, it is coated in a thin, delicate layer of dark chocolate that delivers a satisfying crunch.
