Like every year, Fathers Day is here very quickly. This year it will be on the 20th of June and we will honor all the dads. But did you know that it is a concept created in the 50’s.
Originally it was a commercial celebration, settled by Marcel QUERCIA in 1950. A director of a company from Britany called Flaminaire, he decided to find a strategy to improve its sales.
Indeed, in fact he was worried about his decreasing sales in June. ha was making 50% of its sales in August and December. In order to improve its sales through out the year to sell lighters, he had the idea : “if Mothers have a day, when not organizing one for fathers? “
In 1952, 2 years after having set the special day -even though the French institutions found it as a commercial celebration- they added it to the calendar.
